Child Birth Preparation Class

(augusta, georgia clients only)

I teach a natural approach to child birth, while still educating about the interventions and medications that may be used in a hospital setting. So even couples who desire a natural child birth will feel at ease when discussing possible changes to their birth requests. In discussing the interventions, medications, and procedures, all benefits, risks, and alternatives will be discussed so you and your partner may make an informed decision as to the care that will be best for you and your family.

During every class, you’ll find answers to questions such as:

  • How does the baby come out?
  • How will I know it's the right time?
  • What happens in labor?
  • What will my body be doing throughout labor?
  • Newborn care
  • How can I make it more comfortable?
  • What pain relief options do I have?
  • What does the hospital have to help me if there is a problem?
  • How does a C-section work?
  • How can I help make my recovery better?

Placenta Encapsulation

For centuries, across the world women have ingested their placentas to promote recovery from birth. There is no supplement, organic or man-made, that can compare with the placenta’s healing and nutritive benefits to the postpartum mother.

While there have only been a few scientific studies done on the effects of ingesting the placenta, both research and anecdotal evidence suggests the following:

  • Increased milk supply
  • Regulation of hormones
  • A faster recovery to the body's pre-pregnancy state
  • Increased iron levels
  • A happier mood postpartum
  • Decreased postpartum bleeding
  • Decreased likelihood of PMAD (Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders)

Services we offer

Your placenta is perfectly formed to nourish your baby in utero. It contains a delicate balance of nutrients and hormones, and once detached, the drop in hormones often leaves us feeling excessively tired and moody; even prolonging the healing process. Supplementing your body’s efforts with your encapsulated placenta can make the transition from pregnancy to postpartum gentler and easier.

I hold myself to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety and perform each encapsulation. I follow universal precautions for bloodborne pathogens and strict food handling standards.

Above all, I treat your placenta with honor and respect and recognize the sacred qualities it holds as the nourishment source for your baby and you.
